Top 10 Vodka Distilleries
Vodka is legally defined in the EU as a neutral spirit of any agricultural origin, distilled to such a strength that the original raw material's character has been mostly eliminated. The US definition is similar. The result is enormous variety hidden under apparent neutrality: the base material (grain, potato, grape, sugar beet, even milk whey), water source, filtration, and bottling strength all differentiate quality and character.
1. Belvedere (Poland)
Belvedere from Żyrardów, Poland, is single-rye estate vodka — distilled exclusively from Dańkowskie Złote rye grown in central Poland. Belvedere Pure, Heritage 176, and the Single Estate Rye series define the premium positioning.
2. Chopin (Poland)
Chopin Distillery in Krzesk produces single-ingredient vodkas: Chopin Potato (the original), Chopin Rye, and Chopin Wheat. Each shows the base material's character clearly — Chopin Potato is creamy, Rye is spicy, Wheat is sweet. Family-owned by founder Tad Dorda.
3. Stolichnaya / Stoli (Latvia)
Stolichnaya, historically Soviet, is now produced at Latvijas Balzāms in Riga under the Stoli Group (owned by SPI Group, headquartered in Luxembourg). Grain-based, filtered through quartz sand, charcoal, and woven cloth. The Elit "ultra-luxe filtration" tier and Gold edition are premium.

6. Reyka (Iceland)

Tito's Handmade Vodka in Austin, Texas, is the largest-selling premium American vodka. Founded 1995 by Tito Beveridge, six-time column distillation, corn base. The "Handmade" claim has been legally challenged; production is large-scale but unusually consumer-resonant.
